Every walking aid in our range is perfect for those who may find it challenging to walk unaided or need a little extra support. Sometimes known as 'Zimmer frames' (which is a brand name), walking frames provide greater independence and support for walking. Whether the user is injured, disabled, or it's a case of having a few effects of being 'more mature' (older), you should be able to find what you want in our range.

Why choose a walker or a walking frame?

Walking frames are easy to use and perfect for both inside and outside use.

Frames are typically used by those who are recovering from an illness or a little less steady on their feet to provide stability and balance. You can find designs with three legs or four legs with rubber ferrules attached to the bottom of each leg, which help to grip the ground and keep the frame stable.

A walking frame provides more support than a crutch. For example, 64% of the weight of the user is transferred through the arms. Easy to transport as they fit into the boot of a car and are lightweight. They are also suited for use in smaller spaces such as on public transport.

If it's challenging to move the walking frame, it might be an idea to try a walking frame with wheels fitted. The front legs have two wheels, with the same rubber ferrules on the back legs. If that is still too difficult skis can be fitted to the rear legs.

    What is a rollator?

A rollator is a wheeled version of a walking frame and comes with 3 or 4 wheels. They provide stability whilst walking and make it easy to move. For those with balance issues, the rollator or wheeled walker is a great solution as the wheels help increase the pace with which the user can move. In addition, you start to walk more naturally and look ahead as opposed to the ground.

The rollator is suited to carrying the body's weight and will support the user. Usable both indoors and outdoors, these are best suited to anyone with mobility issues like those with arthritis or mid or lower back pain, MS (Multiple Sclerosis), Parkinson's to name a few.
