What is a pressure care cushion?
If someone spends an extended period of time sitting, there is a risk of developing pressure sores. Pressure cushions, or pressure care cushions, are specially designed to relieve pressure from the user’s skin to prevent pressure sores from developing or progressing further.
They are an essential requirement of a care package for any users who are at risk or have already developed pressure sores or ulcers. Pressure ulcers (also known as bed sores) result when sustained pressure is applied to the skin, often occurring when a person spends long periods of time in the same position laying or sitting. Individuals most at risk of developing sores are those with restricted mobility or poor skin integrity.
